Based on a play by Gypsy Rose Lee, DOLL FACE tells the story of Doll Face Carroll (Vivian Blaine), a burlesque star with artistic pretensions trying to make it on Broadway. The powers-that-be have turned her down, claiming her lack of refinement and questionable background as their reasons for keeping her off the stage. Her manager, Mike Hannegan (Dennis OKeefe), suggests she write a memoir to gain enough notoriety and respect to make a grand entrance on Broadway. With the help of a ghostwriter, Doll Face surprises even Mike. With the wonderful musical talents of performers such as Vivian Blaine, Perry Como and Carmen Miranda, the musical productions are hits in this film.
